Fundamentals of Instructor Training
The course is required by ALL Health & Safety instructor candidates.
This course introduces instructor candidates to the history, structure and activities of the American Red Cross, prepares instructor candidates to teach American Red Cross specialty courses to diverse populations, and introduces instructor candidates to the policies and procedures of the American Red Cross, to ensure course consistency, quality, and appropriate representation.
Lay Responder First Aid and CPR/AED Instructor $150
Learn to train students in Adult, Child and Infant CPR as well as the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and First Aid skills. Students will review course materials and will learn presentation techniques, evaluation methods, and procedures for preparing Red Cross reports. Basic level knowledge and skills will be tested on the first day of class. Though not required, the Adult, Child, and Infant CPR with First Aid class may be a helpful precursor to this course.
Prerequisites: Individuals must be at least 17 years old by last day of class and demonstrate proficiency in First Aid, CPR/AED skills.
Certificates Issued: First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor, valid for 15-24 months.
CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Instructor $150
Learn the skills and techniques necessary to teach professional rescuers (those with a duty to respond) our most comprehensive CPR/AED course. In this course you will learn to train individuals who are expected to respond to emergencies as a part of their job-related duties. This course will demonstrate how to teach the students to recognize and provide care for respiratory and cardiac emergencies, perform two rescuer CPR, use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and minimize the risk of disease transmission in emergency situations.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of the FIT and First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor course.
Certificates Issued: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Instructor, valid for 15-24 months.
Babysitter’s Training $85
Teach kids 11-15 years of age decision making, leadership, childcare and basic first aid skills. Babysitter Training is a fun interactive class that prepares kids to be good babysitters. Instructor training is provided. Must be 16 years of age to be an instructor. Classes occur on Saturdays during the school year and weekdays during the summer months.
