Other Ways to Give
-Tribute and Memorial Gifts
Let a simple and thoughtful gift to the Red Cross express your feelings.
Sometimes, to show the depth of our feelings, we need more than words. In times of celebration, the lives of friends and relatives deserve special recognition. A gift to the American Red Cross is a unique and meaningful way to mark holidays, births, graduations, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and achievements.
In time of remembrance, giving a gift in the name of a person who has died is a thoughtful way of showing bereaved friends or relatives that you care deeply about their loss.
When you make a gift in honor or in memoriam, a letter of acknowledgement will be sent to the person you indicate, announcing your gift. The amount of your gift will be kept confidential. To make a gift in recognition of an event or to send a memorial gift, you may donate by mail or phone – simply indicate that your gift is in honorarium or memoriam and fill out or mention the appropriate acknowledgement information.
-In-Kind Donations
The Red Cross is unable to accept small, individual donations or collections
of items such as clothing, food or cleaning supplies. The cost to sort,
package and distribute these types of donations to disaster victims is almost
always greater than the cost of purchasing the items locally, and it is
logistically impossible to distribute a wide variety of individual items
in a meaningful way. Due to these cost and logistical concerns, we recommend
that you support your community by donating these items to an organization
that is equipped to put them to the best possible local use.
Offers of sizeable, bulk donations are only accepted if they meet a current need for disaster victims that can be addressed by the Red Cross. Bulk donations are typically new, shrink-wrapped and palletized items, and they are transported by the donor. If you would like to discuss this type of donation, please contact Gena Gates.
-Planned Gifts
Planned gifts are gifts by will, life income, life insurance or retirement
plan gifts. To find out how you can make the greatest impact with your planned
gift, contact Gena Gates by phone at
